DBS Bank
Training Teams to Win Over Internal Stakeholders
Context
Empowering teams to communicate ideas more persuasively
DBS is a leading financial group service in Asia with a presence in 19 markets. DBS’s digital strategy strives to embrace technology and reimagine the customer journey. For teams driving initiatives internally, gaining stakeholder support is critical. The goal of this workshop was to help the Consumer Banking team present their ideas clearly and persuasively so they could win stakeholders’ hearts and minds and work together to make DBS a better bank.
Challenges
The Struggle with Getting Stakeholder Buy-In for Strategy Development
Responsible for servicing individuals and small businesses, the consumer banking team directly impacts the mass market. However, when it came to getting buy-in from internal stakeholders, the team struggled to tell a persuasive and engaging story with data.
Without having a tried-and-tested process to structure internal presentations, key messages were often buried deep amidst technical financial terms, leading to multiple back-and-forths and frustration between internal stakeholders.
Audience overloaded with dry and unimportant points
Unclear key messages buried in a sea of information
Ideas presented in a dull and uninspiring manner
How we helped
Tapping on the Power of Persuasion for Presentations
We empowered learners to utilise presentations as a persuasion tool to achieve internal goals. In our full-day workshop, learners reframed their key messages and went beyond just numbers and technical terms. The workshop was a platform for learners to practice unburying their key messages and spotlight what was relevant for different audiences. Techniques to engage and increase memorability were practised and immediate feedback from both the trainer and peers was received to identify potential gaps and discuss how they could be applied in the real world to obtain buy-ins from busy C-suite stakeholders.
Proven persuasion methodologies that inspire the audience to take desired action
Audience triggers and common objections to increase buy-in opportunities
How to leverage on powerful visuals to increase impact and memorability
Results
Building a team of newly minted confident storytellers
Participants gained a practical toolkit to craft compelling narratives around their ideas and insights. Rather than presenting raw financial information, they learned to frame information, deliver their message, and use visuals to support their story. As a result, the team became better equipped to communicate complex concepts clearly and confidently.
